Interns' Bios

Seth

Hi! I'm Seth DeBartolo. I was born and raised in upstate NY and have always enjoyed the beauty of this area of the country. I was very active in my school and community also when living here, and especially enjoyed working with the County Youth Bureau teaching kids to kayak and rock climb.

I've recently graduated with my bachelor's degree in Religion and Family Life Ministry from Concordia College in Bronxville, NY, and am about to leave for seminary in Fort Wayne, IN, this next month. My goal is to become a chaplain in the Air Force Reserves, so while I'm studying at seminary, I will also be training with the Air Force.

I'm a certified deep water SCUBA diver, and have recently been certified to skydive on my own also. So, I guess that it's a bit obvious that I love the outdoors.

Working with youth and young adults over the past number of years, I have really enjoyed helping them develop into responsible, enthusiastic, committed individuals. I have been a summer camp counselor and youth advisor for several youth groups and all of these "adventures" have helped me grow personally and have helped me continue to help and nurture others.

Last summer, 2009, I had the pleasure of working for Fields of Grace Outreach as its first intern. We were able to accomplish much during the summer months and had a great time with all the youth and young adults who came out for all the programs.

My best to all the interns who follow. It was a terrific experience for me, and I know it will be for you also.

When Seth came to Fields of Grace Outreach as our summer intern he came with a great deal of enthusiasm and energy. He excelled throughout the summer with all of his programs and we really appreciate all that he did here for the youth. Best of everything to you, Seth, in your further studies at seminary and as an Air Force Chaplain.

Winter Intern 2009-2010

Sherry winter intern

Sherry Kelsey came to Fields of Grace Outreach as our Winter 2010 Intern. She helped with many projects, including organizing the many supplies donated to us which we, in turn, have been able to give to youth in need in our area. She also planned and coordinated a terrific Ziti Dinner event as a youth fundraiser for some youth to go to a week-long youth conference. Sherry also planned and oversaw a terrific Game Night, open to all ages and free to all who attended. We had over 60 people show and what fun they had. Some brought their own games and many played the board games we supplied. Sherry also coordinated all the free refresh-ments that everyone enjoyed.

We really enjoyed the uplifting and joyful spirit Sherry brought to all of our events and activities. Thank you, Sherry for being part of Fields of Grace Outreach this winter. All the best to you as your return to western NY.

Hi everyone,

My name is Sherry Kelsey. I live in Seneca Falls, NY in Seneca County, part of the Finger Lakes region.  I live with two Himalayan cats: Ladybelle Misty Blue and Ladybelle Pumpkin Spice. We live in a small, old tenant farm house that was built in 1800. I have done some remodeling, but there is still much to do.

I’ve worked for the past seven years as a part-time computer technician in the library at Cayuga Community College. I have an Associate degree in Liberal Arts and Social Sciences from Cayuga Community College. For my second degree, I  was the first to graduate with Cayuga’s new program of Studio Art and Design.  I attended Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, PA for one semester towards a Bachelor degree.

At the present time, I also serve as the database person for a women's retreat organization, Via de Cristo, and was this past year's leader for women’s weekend retreat.

I've worked with youth a great deal over the years. In the past, I have taught Sunday school, helped with different youth events, and developed and supervised Vacation Bible School. At one of the churches that my mother was pastoring,  I set up and ran the Caring Ministries. This consisted of a bread distribution, food pantry, and a clothing closet.

I look forward to working with you in your many programs.

Sherry
